What is the LinkedIn Social Selling Index?
The Social Selling Index is a LinkedIn score from 0 to 100 that rates an account across four areas: establishing a professional brand, finding the right people, engaging with insights, and building relationships.
Also called: SSI, LinkedIn SSI score, social selling index score.
It is LinkedIn’s own measure, visible free on your account, and it is best understood as a measure of activity rather than of results. The four components reward a complete profile, targeted searching, regular engagement, and a growing network of relevant connections.
That makes it genuinely useful as a diagnostic and misleading as a target. A high score confirms you are doing the activities LinkedIn associates with social selling. It does not confirm those activities are producing conversations, and it is entirely possible to score well while selling nothing.
The most useful way to read it is by component rather than in total. A low "engaging with insights" score against a high "professional brand" score tells you something specific and actionable: your profile is in order and you are not showing up in anyone else’s comments.
Treat movement as the signal. The absolute number matters far less than whether the weakest of the four is improving month over month.
Common questions.
Where do I find my Social Selling Index?
LinkedIn publishes it on a dedicated SSI page for any account, free, with the four component scores broken out and a comparison against your industry and network.
Is a high SSI worth chasing?
Not as a goal. It measures activity rather than outcomes, so it is a good diagnostic for which habit you are neglecting and a poor target in itself.
