Which shape to choose
- Landscape, 1200 × 627. Use it when the post has a link, and for photos that are wide to begin with.
- Square, 1200 × 1200. A safe choice for a graphic or a chart. It is taller than a landscape image, so it takes more of the screen on a phone.
- Portrait, 4:5. The tallest of the three, so it takes the most room in a phone feed. Keep the text large, because the image is shown smaller on a desktop.
What happens to other sizes
You do not have to match a size exactly. For a custom image on a link post, LinkedIn Help says images on mobile are not cropped, and that images of other ratios appear in full size with subtle white padding. One limit is firm: an image has to be more than 200 pixels wide, or it is shown as a small thumbnail.
Matching the shape still helps, because you decide what the edges look like. If your image is the wrong shape, the image resizer crops it or fits it with a background of your choice.
Carousels, banners, and profile photos
A carousel is uploaded as a PDF, and LinkedIn publishes no pixel size for its pages. Pick square or 4:5 and keep every page the same. The carousel generator exports the PDF for you.
The profile banner is 1584 × 396 and your profile photo covers part of it. The banner size guide has the safe area. For the photo itself, the profile picture resizer frames it in LinkedIn’s circle.
Depost AI designs an infographic with each post it drafts, in your colors and fonts, already at a feed size, so there is nothing to resize.
Questions

- Landscape: 1200 × 627. Square: 1200 × 1200. Portrait, 4:5: at least 720 × 900, for example 1080 × 1350. These come from LinkedIn Help’s image specifications and its single image ad specifications.
- What aspect ratio does LinkedIn use for images?

- A carousel is a PDF document, and LinkedIn does not publish a pixel size for its pages. Two shapes are common: square, such as 1080 × 1080, and 4:5 portrait, such as 1080 × 1350. Keep every page the same size.
