How to clean a LinkedIn link

What gets removed
The cleaner knows the kinds of link LinkedIn hands out and what the plain form of each one looks like. It takes off the tracking parameters, the mobile or country subdomain, and any extra part of the path that is not needed to reach the page.

What it keeps
Two parts of a post link are not tracking. commentUrn and replyUrn say which comment
or reply the link points to. The cleaner keeps them, so a link to a comment still opens that comment.
On other LinkedIn pages, such as a search, the cleaner keeps the page’s own settings (your keywords, for example) and removes only the tracking.
When a clean link matters
- On a resume, a business card, or an email signature, where a short link is easier to read and to type.
- In a spreadsheet or a CRM, where two links to the same profile should look the same so duplicates are easy to find.
- In an article or a report, where you cite a post and want a link that will not look out of date.
- In a QR code. A shorter link makes a simpler code that scans more easily. The QR code generator cleans the link for you.
Your own profile link
If your profile link still ends in a row of letters and numbers, you can change it to your name in LinkedIn’s settings. The profile URL finder shows where your link is, checks it against LinkedIn’s rules, and gives you the short form to put on a resume.

- How do I clean a LinkedIn URL?
- Paste the link into the box above. The cleaner removes everything after the question mark that is only there for tracking, moves the link to www.linkedin.com, and shows you the short, plain link to the same page. Press Copy and use that one.
- What is the part after the question mark in a LinkedIn link?
- Those are tracking parameters. When you copy a link from LinkedIn, it adds notes such as utm_source=share and utm_medium=member_desktop that record how the link was shared. They do not change which page opens, so the link works the same without them.
- Will the cleaned link still open the same page?
- Yes. The cleaner only removes parts that do not change where the link goes. It keeps the two parts that do matter on a post link: commentUrn and replyUrn, which point to one comment or reply. Without them, a link to a comment would open the post from the top.
- How do I get the link to a LinkedIn post from an embed code?
- Paste the embed link, the one that starts with linkedin.com/embed/feed/update. The cleaner removes the embed wrapper and gives you the normal link to the post, which you can open, share, or cite.
- Can it open lnkd.in short links?
- No. A short lnkd.in link hides where it goes, and a web page is not allowed to open it from another site to find out. Open the short link once in your browser, copy the address it lands on, and paste that here.
- Does it work for profile links from other countries?
- Yes. A link such as uk.linkedin.com/in/name or in.linkedin.com/in/name points to the same profile as www.linkedin.com/in/name. The cleaner changes it to the www address, which is the one LinkedIn itself shows as the public profile link.
- Are my links sent to a server?
- No. The cleaning is done by this page, in your browser. Nothing you paste is uploaded or stored, and nothing connects to your LinkedIn account.
