X fonts generator

X strips formatting, so the only way to get bold or italic into a post is to swap the letters themselves for Unicode lookalikes. Type below and get your text in eighteen styles, each with its own copy button, along with the two things most fonts tools will not tell you: styled characters cost double against the 280 limit, and screen readers struggle with them, so style a few words, never the whole post.

Every style updates as you type, in your browser. Copy the one you want and paste it straight into the composer.

The other room

This tool is free. So is knowing where your buyers are.

The X tools on this site run entirely in your browser. The LinkedIn half goes much further: Depost AI is an AI content team for B2B founders and teams, agents that read your analytics, plan your week, draft in your voice, design the graphics, and publish through the official API. If LinkedIn is part of your mix, that half can run itself.

What the styles are for, and what they cost

Emphasis is the honest use case. One bolded phrase in a plain post directs the eye the way bold does anywhere else, and on a platform with no native formatting that is a real advantage. The failure mode is the fully styled post, which costs you three ways at once: it reads as decoration rather than emphasis, it doubles your character spend since these ranges are weighted 2 on X, and it locks out readers using assistive technology, who hear a string of maths symbols where your sentence was.

The maps behind this page handle the detail that trips up most fonts tools: Unicode assigned some letters of these alphabets long before the rest, in other blocks, so a naive offset produces the occasional unassigned box mid-word. Every one of those holes, the script H, the gothic C, the outline R and friends, is patched to its proper code point here, which is why the output holds up letter for letter.

The same trick works on LinkedIn

LinkedIn strips pasted formatting just as thoroughly, and the same eighteen styles survive it the same way. The LinkedIn text formatter on this site applies them inside a full composer, with bullets, undo, and a feed preview, and it shares these exact character maps, so a style copied from either page is identical. Wherever you use them, the discipline carries over: emphasis, not decoration.

Questions

How do bold and italic fonts work on X?
They are not fonts and X is not formatting anything. The tool swaps each letter for its lookalike from Unicode's Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols, so "Bold" becomes four different characters that merely look like bold letters. That is why the styling survives pasting anywhere: it is plain text all the way down.
Which styles does this generator produce?
Eighteen: serif and sans bold, italic, and bold italic, script and script bold, gothic and gothic bold, monospace, wide, outline, squared, circled, plus underline and strikethrough, which work differently by adding a combining mark after each character. Every style has its own copy button.
Do styled characters cost more of the 280?
Yes, double. X weights characters, and the Unicode ranges these lookalikes live in are charged 2 apiece, so a fully bolded sentence spends twice the budget of the plain one. Style a few words for emphasis and check the total in our X character counter before posting.
Is styled text bad for accessibility?
Genuinely, yes, and anyone selling you a fonts tool without saying so is leaving it out on purpose. Screen readers announce these characters as maths symbols or skip them entirely, and search cannot match them against the words people type. Style a few words for emphasis, never whole posts, and never information someone would need to search for.
Why do some characters show as boxes for some people?
Older devices and some fonts are missing glyphs for parts of these Unicode ranges, and a missing glyph renders as a box. The common styles, bold and italic in both serif and sans, are safe nearly everywhere; the ornamental ones, gothic, script, circled, carry more risk on old Android in particular. If in doubt, stay with bold.
Is it free?
Yes, without an account, and everything runs in your browser. Nothing you type leaves this page.
