# LinkedIn Text Formatter

Canonical page: https://depost.ai/tools/linkedin-text-formatter

LinkedIn strips formatting from everything you paste, so bold and italic have to be built out of different characters instead. Type or paste your post below, style what you want to emphasize, and copy the result straight into the composer.

Free to use, with no account needed.

## How to use it

1. Type or paste your post into the editor.
2. Select the words to emphasize and pick a style from the toolbar: bold, italic, script, strikethrough, and more.
3. Click **Copy** and paste the result straight into the LinkedIn composer.

## Questions people ask

### How does bold text work on LinkedIn?

LinkedIn has no formatting controls and strips markup from anything you paste. What everyone calls bold on LinkedIn is a substitution: each letter is swapped for its Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols equivalent, which is a different character that happens to look bold. Because it is a character rather than a style, it survives the composer.

### Is a post formatter the same thing as a text formatter?

Same tool, two names for it. Whichever you searched for, the job is identical: LinkedIn accepts plain text and nothing else, so bold, italic, and bullets have to be built out of characters that already carry the style. This page formats a post, a comment, a headline, or an About section with the same substitution.

### Does it work in headlines, comments, and messages?

Yes, anywhere LinkedIn accepts text. The characters are ordinary Unicode, so they paste into a headline, an About section, a comment, a connection note, or a direct message the same way they paste into a post.

### Is styled text bad for accessibility?

It is genuinely worse, and it is worth knowing rather than working around. A screen reader announces these characters as mathematical symbols, so a bolded sentence can be read out as nonsense or skipped. Style a few words for emphasis and leave the body of the post as plain text.

### Can people still find my post in LinkedIn search?

Not by the styled words. Search matches the actual characters, and a bolded word is a different character sequence from the plain one, so it will not match a normal query. Keep the terms you want to be found by, especially in your headline, in plain text.

### Does bold text help or hurt reach?

There is no published data either way, and anyone quoting a percentage is guessing. What is defensible is the reading argument: a little emphasis helps someone skim a long post, and a wall of styled text is harder to read than plain, which works against you.

### How do I undo the formatting?

Select the text and press the same button again, or use Clear to strip every style from the selection at once. Clearing works on text styled anywhere, so you can paste in a post someone else formatted and get plain characters back.
