# LinkedIn Post Preview

Canonical page: https://depost.ai/tools/linkedin-post-preview

Most people read three lines of your post and then decide. This shows you those three lines the way the feed will render them, on desktop, tablet, and phone, with the cut measured on your own words rather than guessed at a round number.

Free to use, with no account needed.

## How to use it

1. Paste your post into the editor.
2. See it the way the feed renders it on desktop, tablet, and phone, with the "see more" cut measured on your own words.

## Questions people ask

### Where does LinkedIn cut a post with "see more"?

After roughly three lines of rendered text. Because it is a line count, the character position moves with your line breaks: a post that opens with two short lines loses the preview to about a dozen words, while a single running sentence keeps far more. This tool measures the cut on your own text rather than assuming a fixed number.

### Is the preview exact?

It is measured, not estimated. Your text is laid out at the width the feed uses and the cut is found by measuring where the fourth line would begin. LinkedIn does adjust its layout from time to time, and a reader on an unusual font size will see a slightly different break, so treat it as accurate rather than pixel perfect.

### Why does the same post look different on a phone?

The column is narrower, so the same three lines hold fewer words. On the same paragraph the cut moves from around 242 characters on desktop to 212 on a tablet and 141 on a phone. Most LinkedIn reading happens on a phone, which makes that the view worth writing for. Switch between all three with the icons above the card.

### Can I preview a post with an image or a document?

Not yet. This previews the text, which is the part that decides whether anyone expands the post in the first place. Media attaches below the text and does not change where the cut falls.

### Does my draft get uploaded anywhere?

No. Every count and every measurement happens in your browser. The draft is kept in your own browser storage so it survives a refresh, and it is never sent to us. Clearing it with Reset removes it. A Share link is the one deliberate exception: the draft travels inside the link itself, readable by the people you choose to send it to and still stored nowhere on our side.

### Does formatted text survive the LinkedIn composer?

Bold and italic do, because they are made from separate Unicode characters rather than markup, which is what the formatter tool produces. Ordinary rich text pasted from a document does not: LinkedIn strips it on paste.
