# LinkedIn Link Preview Checker

Canonical page: https://depost.ai/tools/linkedin-link-preview-checker

Every link you post becomes a card, and the card is built from tags most pages get wrong. Paste a URL below to see how LinkedIn will render it, with a verdict per tag: the title it will use, whether the image exists at the 1200 by 627 LinkedIn rewards, and what to fix when the answer is no.

Free to use, with no account needed.

## How to use it

1. Paste a URL into **The page to check** and click **Check the preview**.
2. See the card LinkedIn will build, with a verdict for each tag and what to fix when one is wrong.

## Questions people ask

### How does LinkedIn decide what a link preview looks like?

Its crawler fetches the page and reads the Open Graph tags: og:title for the bold line, og:image for the picture, og:site_name and the URL for the attribution. Without them it falls back to the page title and whatever image it can guess, which is where the mystery previews come from.

### What image size does LinkedIn want?

1200 by 627 pixels, a 1.91:1 ratio, as the og:image. At or above that you get the full-width card; smaller images render small or get dropped. This checker loads the actual image and measures it, so the verdict is about the real file, not just the tag.

### I fixed my tags but LinkedIn still shows the old preview. Why?

LinkedIn caches link previews for days, so a fixed page keeps showing its old card. The fix is LinkedIn's own Post Inspector: paste the URL there and it recrawls immediately. This checker always fetches fresh, so use it to verify the fix, then the Inspector to make LinkedIn see it.

### Why does my preview have no image even though the page has pictures?

The crawler does not scavenge your page for a nice picture; it reads og:image and mostly stops there. If the tag is missing, points at a relative URL, needs a login, or blocks hotlinking, the card ships without an image. The checker flags each of those separately.

### Does the description matter?

Not for the feed card, which shows only the image, title, and domain. It still matters everywhere else the page is unfurled: search snippets, Slack, other social platforms. The checker reports it as a pass-or-warn rather than a failure for exactly that reason.

### Is it free?

Yes, without an account. A daily cap on checks keeps it available for everyone. The URL you check is fetched once by our server and the result is briefly cached; nothing else is stored.
