# LinkedIn About Generator

Canonical page: https://depost.ai/tools/linkedin-about-generator

The About section is where a profile visit turns into a conversation or does not, and most people either leave it empty or fill it with a third-person biography nobody finishes. Describe your work in the four fields below and get a first-person draft that opens with what you do, carries your proof as plain facts, and ends with a next step.

Free to use, with no account needed.

## How to use it

1. Fill in **Your role or job title** and **What your work actually involves**.
2. Add **Who should read it**, **Results, numbers, or credentials worth naming**, and **Tone** if you want to. They are optional.
3. Click **Write my About section**. To see a result before typing, click **Try an example** first; it fills the form with a sample.

## Example: An About section for an independent UX consultant

Four short answers in, one About section out. The proof points land as plain facts, and the close asks for exactly one thing.

**What went in**

- Your role or job title: Independent UX consultant
- What your work actually involves: I run UX audits and redesigns for B2B software teams. Most projects start with a product that works but loses users in onboarding. I map where people drop off, redesign the flows, and stay through implementation with the dev team.
- Who should read it: Heads of product at B2B software companies
- Results, numbers, or credentials worth naming: 60+ audits since 2019, previously design lead at a CRM that grew from 2k to 40k users
- Tone: Professional

**What came back**

I run UX audits and redesigns for B2B software teams whose product works but loses users in onboarding.

The pattern is almost always the same. The product does the job, the demo goes well, and then a third of new accounts stall in the first week. I map where people drop off, redesign those flows, and stay through implementation so the fixes ship as designed rather than as compromises.

Since 2019 I have run more than 60 audits. Before that I led design at a CRM that grew from 2,000 to 40,000 users, which is where I learned that onboarding is a retention problem wearing a design costume.

Most of my work comes from heads of product who can see the drop-off in their dashboard but not the reason for it. If that sounds familiar, message me and I will tell you in one call whether an audit is worth it.

## Questions people ask

### What should a LinkedIn About section say?

Open with what you do and for whom, in the first sentence, because only the first few lines show before the "see more" cut. Then the work itself in plain terms, your proof stated as facts rather than brags, and one line telling the right reader what to do next: connect, message, or follow. That is the whole structure. Childhood stories and mission statements can come after the reader knows why they are reading.

### How long should a LinkedIn About section be?

The field allows 2,600 characters, but 120 to 200 words is the range that gets read. Short paragraphs with blank lines between them matter more than total length, because the About section renders as a wall of text the moment you skip them. The generator writes inside that range by default.

### Should the About section be written in first person?

Yes. Third person ("Jane is a seasoned executive...") reads as either ghostwritten or self-important, and the profile is literally your page speaking. First person also makes claims checkable: "I led the migration" commits you in a way "was involved in the migration" never does.

### Is this About generator free, and do I need an account?

Free, no account. The draft is yours to edit and paste. A daily cap keeps the tool available for everyone.

### Will it sound like me?

It will sound like a competent person describing your work, based on the four fields you filled in, and for most profiles that is already a big upgrade. Sounding specifically like you takes more input than a form: Depost AI drafts from your real profile and lets you rewrite any line in place, in your voice, until it reads right.

### Is what I type stored anywhere?

No. The fields are sent to our API once to generate the draft and are not stored. There is no account to attach them to.
